Privacy policy
Last updated: 20 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information the GridLog app and website collect, why, and what you can do about it. We’ve tried to keep it short and in plain English.
Who we are
GridLog is run by Sam Busher, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), we are the “controller” of your account information. You can contact us about anything in this policy at [email protected].
What we collect
Your account. Your email address (to send you sign-in codes) and, if you give it, your name. We don’t use passwords.
Your teams. Which teams you belong to and your role in each (admin, statistician or player), and the roster player your account is linked to.
Requests you make. Requests to join a team, claims to run a team and requests to add a team, including your role at the club and any message you write.
Team information that teams add. Team admins and statisticians record players’ names, shirt numbers, positions and match statistics, plus team details such as results, colours and crest. If you play for a team on GridLog, it’s your team that adds your name and stats.
Images you choose. If you upload a team crest, we store that image. The app only accesses your photos when you pick one.
What we don’t collect. No advertising, no tracking across other apps or websites, no location data and no contacts. We don’t sell your information.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To provide GridLog to you: signing you in, showing your teams and saving the stats you enter. Basis: contract (providing the service you asked for).
- To record and show sports statistics about players, which is the purpose of a stats app. Basis: legitimate interests (the team’s and ours in keeping accurate records of the sport).
- To check claims and requests, and to keep GridLog secure. Basis: legitimate interests.
- To reply when you contact us. Basis: legitimate interests.
Who can see team stats
Each team chooses whether it’s public or private. A public team’s results, roster names and player stats can be seen by anyone, including people who aren’t signed in. A private team’s stats are only visible to its members. Your email address is only visible to admins of teams you belong to or have asked to join, and to GridLog when we review requests.
Services we use
We use a few trusted providers to run GridLog. They only process data on our instructions:
- Supabase: our database and sign-in system. Data is stored on servers in London, UK.
- Resend: sends sign-in code emails, from servers in Ireland (EU).
- Cloudflare: hosts this website and forwards emails sent to our addresses.
- Expo: builds and delivers the app. It doesn’t receive your stats or account details.
Your data is stored in the UK and EU. We don’t transfer it outside these areas.
How long we keep it
- Your account information is kept until you delete your account.
- Team stats belong to the team and are kept while the team uses GridLog. If you leave a team or delete your account, stats already recorded stay with the team, but they’re no longer linked to your account.
- Requests and claims are kept for up to 12 months after they’re answered.
- Deleted information may remain in secure backups for up to 30 days.
Your rights
You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, have it corrected, have it deleted, restrict or object to how we use it, and receive a copy to take elsewhere. To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We’ll reply within one month.
If you’re a player and want your name or stats corrected or removed from a team, you can ask the team’s admin, or contact us and we’ll help.
You can delete your account at any time in the app (Team → Delete my account) or by following the steps on our delete your account page.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We’d appreciate the chance to sort it out first.
Children
GridLog accounts are for people aged 13 and over. If a team records stats for players under 18, the team is responsible for having permission from the player and a parent or guardian to do so.
Changes to this policy
If we make important changes, we’ll update the date at the top and let users know in the app.
